Several of our associates traveled to Honduras last May with Living Water International to bring safe water to the community of Isleta. Living Water International is a Houston based non-profit founded in 1990 after a group traveled from Texas to Kenya and saw the desperate need for clean drinking water. Living Water International exists to, “demonstrate the love of God by helping communities acquire desperately needed clean water, and to experience ‘living water’ – the gospel of Jesus Christ – which alone satisfies the deepest thirst.”
Up until this trip, community members supplemented their water needs by using a spring and an unprotected, hand-dug well. The Caldwell team worked alongside Living Water crew members and community volunteers for three days to drill the water well and completed the project on day four. The team drilled to a depth of 20 meters before hitting an ample aquifer that yields 180 liters of safe water per minute!
Each day started and ended with food, fellowship and time to reflect. The purpose of this mission was not only to bring clean water to the people of Isleta but to weave messages from scripture into the hygiene and sanitation lessons shared by the Living Well Club.
