Kroger Marketplace Opens in Towne Lake

Kroger Marketplace in Towne Lake

After months of anticipation, Kroger Marketplace officially opened its doors to an excited public on Friday, August 1st.  The 124,000 square foot grocery store, located at the intersection of Barker Cypress & Tuckerton Rd, sits at the entrance of Towne Lake and offers more than just groceries.  This marketplace provides convenient, one-stop-shopping for its customers, complete with adult and children’s apparel (and even fitting rooms!), home furnishings, small appliances, jewelry, a pharmacy and a gas station.

With one of the largest wine departments in Texas, this Kroger offers over 1,300 varieties of wine and shelves a variety of craft beers from local vendors.  Patrons can shop in the store’s extensive pet section and even fill pet meds at the store’s pharmacy, which includes two drive thru lanes.  An in-store Starbucks and quick deli selections provide convenient breakfast and lunch options for those looking to grab a quick bite.  Kroger also has an exclusive partnership with Murray Cheese out of New York and offers a wide array of cheeses that are ideal for parties and entertaining.

Other hi-tech features include body heat sensors that prompt the store to open more lanes based on the number of shoppers entering the store. Skylights are in place to provide natural light throughout the day and motion sensors in the freezers turn off lights to reduce energy consumption when not in use.  The new Kroger also offers free wi-fi in the store so that shoppers can easily access online coupons.

Many Towne Lake residents showed their support and excitement for the new store by wearing their community t-shirts to the Grand Opening event.  “We’re thrilled that the new Kroger is open in our community and it's a sign of more great things to come in Towne Lake," said General Manager of Towne Lake Kent Puckett.

Kroger worked extensively with the Towne Lake team to design a beautiful façade of natural rock and vaulted beams that accentuate the community’s Hill Country feel.  Shoppers will even have the ability to boat to Kroger with the new amphitheater and marina set to open in 2015.  For more information on this new store, click here.
