Homebuyer Tax Credit Pushes Houston Single-Family Home Sales Up For A Second Consecutive Month In April

May 18, 2010 HOUSTON — (May 18, 2010) — Sales of single-family homes across the greater Houston area rose for a second straight month in April, apparently buoyed by transactions incentivized by the federal government’s homebuyer tax credit that expired on April 30. Prices of single-family homes also maintained their months-long appreciation.

  

Gulf Coast Region Shows Economic Resilience

April 23, 2010 (AUSTIN) — The Gulf Coast region’s economic outlook is positive, with a diverse industry base providing valuable support for the state and national economies. Following the devastating effects of Hurricane Ike in fall 2008, the Gulf Coast region has shown resilience in the area economy and even surpassed the rest of Texas for quarterly sales when the state entered the national recession, according to a new report by Texas Comptroller Susan Combs.

  

Houston industrial market sees positive Q1

April 22, 2010 Houston’s industrial market posted a second consecutive quarter of positive net absorption based on first-quarter results analyzed by Grubb & Ellis Co. A total of 974,160 square feet of industrial space was absorbed in the first quarter of 2010, according to the real estate firm. Houston: second fastest growing area in U.S.

March 22, 2010 The Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth metro areas grew faster than any region in the country last year, according to a new estimate from the U.S. Census Bureau. The Houston metro area had the second-largest influx of residents at 140,784 or 2.5 percent, pushing the region’s total population to 5.86 million. The population estimates show that Houston is the sixth-largest metro area in the country.
