Job Description

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, assisting with month-end close processes, and supporting overall financial operations to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies  
 

Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable, including invoice coding, lien releases and vendor communications.
  • Verifying PO/EPO numbers in BRIX
  • Identify PO/Invoice variances and notify purchasing and builders to resolve variances
  • Vendor/Supplier setup and account maintenance (ICA’s, W-9’s, EFT information and keeping COI forms current)
  • Vendor statement reconciliations
  • Prepare and post journal entries including daily cash activity.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of financial statements.
  • Reconcile Bank Statements
  • Perform general ledger reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
  • Monitor and analyze financial data to identify issues and recommend solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
  • Prepare and distribute annual 1099 forms


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Well organized and good communication skills
  • Team player and individual contributor
  • Willingness to learn

 
Preferred Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of homebuilding accounting experience preferred.
  • Job Cost experience preferred
