Key Responsibilities:
Accounting and Financial Reporting
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly financial statements.
- Record and reconcile financial transactions, including lot sales, land purchases, construction and infrastructure costs.
- Track and allocate project costs, including soft costs, hard costs, and capital expenditures.
- Calculate Cost of Goods Sold for monthly lot sale activity.
- Prepare construction draw packages.
- Manage incoming funds and calculate development fees.
- Prepare bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts.
- Maintain detailed job costing records for multiple projects.
- Prepare monthly draw packages to various lenders.
- Familiar with AIA documentation.
Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare periodic reports on project financial performance, including cost summaries and profitability analyses.
- Assist in MUD Bond Reimbursement applications, fundings and cost analysis.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of project-related financial activities.
- Assist in creating reports for internal stakeholders, investors, lenders, and regulatory bodies.
Collaboration
- Partner with development teams, finance teams, and project managers to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Develop relationships with project lenders and ensure loan compliance.
- Assist with external audits and provide detailed documentation as needed.
- Work with CPA firms for annual tax return preparation
- Support strategic decision-making by providing financial insights and recommendations
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–7 years of accounting experience in real estate land development, residential projects, or a related field.
- Proficiency in real estate and development accounting practices.
- Experience with Sage Intacct and Titanium accounting software.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to create complex models and analyses.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of land development processes, including Job costing, MUD Reimbursements, lender draws, COGS, and infrastructure.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
