Anyone in the northwest Houston area looking to create their own podcast has a new option to get their potential project off the ground and onto the web.
The Work Well, a coworking space with offices available for rent and additional shared space now hosts a 90-square-foot booth with acoustic paneling, four mics with boom arms, headphones and a Rodecaster Pro soundboard.
“The only thing the person would have to bring in is their laptop and we could show them the different free podcast recording platform that (they) could use,” Miranda Stewart said.
The Work Well website allows members and non-members of The Work Well to book the space for hours at a time, Stewart said. She said the booth was created after a survey of current members was conducted.
“Podcasts are on the rise,” she said. “People are either wanting to do a podcast or download those soundbites and get into marketing because everyone is listening to podcasts these days. It's just the thing to do.”
Stewart said the ease of advertising in podcasts has sparked the interest of advertisers in the area.
“The advertising component of it is pretty genius,” she said. “You want to continue to listen to your podcast so they're going to listen through that commercial. ...It's allowing another revenue stream for us but (we are) also tapping into that growing market that people want.”
